Why Volunteer in Marbella?

Marbella harbors a community deeply invested in values such as compassion, mutual aid, and unwavering solidarity. Volunteering in Marbella extends beyond just providing a helping hand; it is an enriching experience that allows individuals to immerse themselves fully in the local culture, fostering deep and lasting connections with the people and traditions of the area. By volunteering, one not only contributes positively to societal welfare but also gains firsthand exposure to a new way of life, characterized by a sense of communal coherence and empathy.

Where to Volunteer in Marbella

Marbella presents an array of organizations and opportunities for individuals eager to volunteer and make a meaningful impact. Here, we delve into some prominent organizations that eagerly welcome volunteer support. First, DEBRA Spain stands out, working prominently in the realm of supporting individuals and families grappling with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic disorder. Next, Triple A Marbella is immensely dedicated to the care and protection of abandoned and mistreated animals, offering various volunteering roles.

Another charitable group that needs the help of altruistic people is Marbella Voluntaria, an association that provides services to many people in need in Marbella.

Lastly, Cudeca Cancer Care stands committed to providing palliative care to cancer patients and their families. Let’s explore what each of these organizations represents and the specific volunteer opportunities they offer, allowing potential volunteers to find the best fit for their passions and skills.

DEBRA Spain

DEBRA Spain is an organization committed to supporting individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare and often debilitating genetic skin disorder. Their work revolves around raising awareness, providing family support, and generating funds for vital research. Raising awareness about EB is pivotal, as it involves organizing and participating in campaigns aimed at educating the public and healthcare professionals about the disease, thus fostering better understanding and support.

Fundraising events play a crucial role, with volunteers helping to plan and execute various activities designed to raise the necessary funds for research and patient support. Family support programs are equally significant, offering both practical and emotional assistance to families wrestling with the day-to-day challenges of living with EB.

Triple A Marbella

Triple A Marbella is a remarkable animal rescue charity known for its unwavering dedication to the care and protection of abandoned and mistreated animals. The organization offers various volunteering roles that cater to different interests and skills.

Triple A Marbella

Volunteering in animal care involves assisting with tasks such as feeding, walking, and providing general care for the animals, ensuring their well-being and comfort. Another important area is fundraising and event participation, where volunteers can help in planning and executing activities that raise crucial funds to support the shelter’s operations. Additionally, volunteers play a pivotal role in the adoption process, assisting in matching animals with potential adopters to ensure they find loving and permanent homes. Each of these roles is vital in maintaining the shelter’s operations and enhancing the lives of countless animals.

Marbella Voluntaria

The Marbella Voluntaria association provides assistance to the many elderly people and people with special needs who have been cared for by this group in Marbella for 20 years.

Marbella Voluntaria has been running various programmes for some time to provide assistance through volunteers to various groups such as the elderly, people with special needs, troubled students, etc. It develops various altruistic aid programmes in the municipality, such as the one to accompany elderly people or people with disabilities. In these cases, they help to carry out the most everyday tasks such as going to the doctor or going for a walk. They also promote a hospital accompaniment programme in which volunteers travel to the Costa del Sol hospital to keep the sick person company and walk with them.

Marbella Voluntaria

Concern for the youngest is also part of Marbella Voluntaria’s initiatives with its volunteering programme in the Classroom. This project implemented in the Pablo de Saz, Victoria Kent and Sierra Blanca institutes seeks to create an alternative to the expulsion of secondary school students in our municipality. This is a classroom where students are cared for based on the type of sanction that has been applied to them. The volunteer’s task will be to care for them under the guidance of criteria that have been previously indicated to them in a training course on the subject and that they are obliged to carry out before participating in this volunteer program.

In addition to the support they provide in the volunteer programs, the association receives almost continuously at its headquarters people in situations of exclusion, with illnesses or in need of help at all costs.

The association has a total of almost two hundred citizens among its ranks of volunteers. Anyone interested in helping by lending their time to help others can go to its headquarters in the Civic Center of the Divina Pastora next to the market. There they train the volunteers through courses that they carry out periodically. Anyone can join the ranks of this solidarity army.

Cudeca Cancer Care

Cudeca Cancer Care is an esteemed organization dedicated to providing comprehensive palliative care to cancer patients and their families. The volunteer roles available at Cudeca are diverse, catering to different interests and skills. Volunteers can offer patient support by providing companionship and comfort to those receiving care, making a significant difference in their emotional well-being. Additionally, Cudeca operates several retail shops, and volunteers play a crucial role in organizing items and serving customers, which helps generate funds for the care services provided. Administrative tasks within the organization’s offices also require volunteer assistance, ensuring smooth operations and efficient management of resources. Each role is instrumental in maintaining the high standard of care and support that Cudeca offers.

Commitment

Understanding and committing to the required time and effort is crucial. Some organizations may require a minimum number of volunteer hours per week or a long-term commitment to ensure continuity and effectiveness in their programs.
